What is P-Tech?

P-Tech stands for Pathways of Technology Early College High School. This program allows for students to have the opportunity to earn an industry-related associate's degree, professional certifications, and obtain work-based education all while obtaining their high school diploma. P-Tech provides a transformative approach to high school education that immerses students in educational opportunities that are connected to Texas's regional labor market demands. This allows our students to be equipped to successfully transition out of high school and into the next phase of their future.

Mission Statement

The mission of O'Donnell ISD P-Tech program is to equip our students with the knowledge and experience needed to be successful in chosen careers beyond high school.

Vision Statement

The O'Donnell ISD P - Tech program strives to ensure every student has access to free, authentic, education-based work experience so that they may become top candidates in the work field of their choice.

The hallmark of P-Tech models is its career focus and the provision of work-based education. P-TECH programs:

  • Enroll historically underserved students, targeting at-risk and economically disadvantaged
  • Provide students grade 9 through 12 the opportunity to complete a course of study that combines high school and postsecondary courses
  • Enable students to earn a high school diploma, along with associate degree, Level 1 or Level 2 certificate, or industry-based certification within six years
  • Offer  age-appropriate, work-based learning opportunities in every grade level
  • Allow students to gain work experience through internship, apprenticeship, or other job training program
  • Align to regional workforce needs, guiding students into high-demand, high-wage careers
  • Partner with Texas Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) and regional businesses and industries, giving students access to postsecondary education and workforce training opportunities
