OCTOBER DEADLINES

Horatio Alger Scholarship… Must be a graduating senior planning to complete a bachelor’s degree, have $55,000 or lower adjusted gross income, have a minimum GPA of 2.0.  Visit https://scholars.horatioalger.org/ (opens external link in new window)Deadline: October 25, 2019

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, Inc… The Coca-Cola Scholars Program annually awards 150 scholarship of $20,000 each to current or home school seniors. Applications available online at http://www.coca-colascholars.org/ (opens external link in new window). Deadline: October 31, 2019

NOVEMBER DEADLINES

Hagan Scholarship Foundation... University of Texas at Austin Texas Advance Scholarship... Families with an adjusted gross income of up to $65,000 may qualify for full tuition and fees.  Families with an agi of up to $125,000 may qualify for partial support.   In order to qualify, submit an application for admission to UT-Austin and submit the FAFSA.  Click https://texasadvance.utexas.edu/ (opens PDF document) for more information. Deadline: December 1, 2019

Burger King Scholars Program… Created in memory of BURGER KING co-founder James W. McLamore, the BURGER KING Scholars program has awarded more than $20 million in scholarships to high school students, BURGER KING® employees and their children across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program… This scholarship program annually awards roughly 20 college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships. Texas Tech University... offers full tuition and fees for first-time freshmen with a family income of $40,000 or less. To qualify for the Red Raider Guarantee (opens external link in new window) program, students must: meet the income requirement, be admitted to Texas Tech, and apply for FAFSA by January 15, 2020. Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship… The Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the Texas Engineering Foundation will award approximately $75,000 in scholarships to students attending an ABET-accredited university. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) U.S. Scholarship Program… This scholarship program embraces the mission of offering support to ill or injured children and their families. AXA Achievement Scholarship… The AXA Foundation is the philanthropic arm of AXA Equitable, directing the company’s philanthropic and volunteer activities and working to improve the quality of life in communities across the country where AXA has a presence.Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. Texas Student Housing…This $2,500 per year scholarship is open to students accepted to colleges in Austin, College Station, or Denton, who have NOT signed off-campus housing leases. Scholarships are awarded for the full or partial cost of an off-campus room for one academic year at the Ballpark in Austin, Town Lake in Austin, the Ridge at North Texas, and the Cambridge in College Station, or at an alternate comparable facility if designated by TSH. Baylor University... annually awards scholarships through the Carr P. America's Farmers... America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, is giving $1500 scholarships to students in an ag-related field of study.  Click www.ffa.org/scholarships for more information.  Deadline: January 30, 2020

FEBRUARY DEADLINES

Carr Academic Scholarship-Angelo State University... Angelo State offers the Carr Academic Scholarship ranging from $1000 to $15,000, plus an additional $3000 if you join the Honors Program.  Go to https://www.angelo.edu/services/scholarship-programs/carr-scholarships.php (opens external link in new window) for more information and deadlines.

State Fair of Texas Scholarships… Established in 1992, the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program has awarded approximately$8.7 million in new and renewed scholarships. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) HACER National Scholarships…This scholarship is specifically for students with at least one parent of Hispanic heritage. Click HERE (opens external link in new window) for the application.  Deadline:  February 5, 2020

Zero-Interest Student Loans from Frost Bank... Frost Bank manages these loans for the Abe and Annie Seibel Foundation.  The maximum loan is $8000/year.  If you are concerned that you will not receive any or enough financial aid, these are an option.  There is no stipulation on how the money is to be spent, but only 800 will be awarded.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for more information, or call 409/770-5665 to request an application.  Deadline: February 28, 2020

Capital Farm - Lamesa Office... Capital Farm Credit’s Lamesa Officeis presenting one $1000 scholarship to a deserving high school senior. Click HERE (opens PDF document) for the application. Eligibility Requirement Include:

  1. Must be a resident of Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Martin, Midland, Upton or Winkler County OR attend high school in one of these counties (so that’s all of you)
  2. Must have tentative educational plans related to agriculture (see attachment for examples)
  3. Must have at least a B average
  4. Applicant parents or grandparents must be current members of Capital Farm Credit
  5. Must submit application, short essay, 1-2 letters of recommendation
  6. Application deadline:  February 23, 2019

Junior League of Lubbock, Inc..is offering a $2500 Volunteer Service Award Scholarship to a female high school senior who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to volunteerism in her community.  Must be a resident of Lubbock, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Crosby, Garza, Lynn, Terry, or Hockley counties.  Go to https://www.jllubbock.com/?nd=scholarship (opens external link in new window).  Deadline: Must be RECEIVED by February 28, 2020


MARCH DEADLINES

FCCLA Scholarships... Are you a member of FCCLA?  Go to https://www.texasfccla.org/scholarships (opens external link in new window) to check out their scholarships.  They have a variety of scholarships available.  Deadline: March 1, 2020

FFA Scholarships... Go to https://www.texasffa.org/scholarships (opens external link in new window) to apply for MANY scholarships, including the Texas FFA scholarship.  Be sure to also look under OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS on the bottom of the page for a pretty big list of even more scholarship opportunities (not all are FFA-related).  Deadline: March 1, 2020

NTS Communications... This scholarship will provide up to five $2,000 scholarships to applicants who legally reside within one of the following cities: Abernathy, Brownfield, Burkburnett, Colorado City, Hale Center, Idalou, Iowa Park, Lamesa, Levelland, Littlefield, Meadow, Morton, New Deal, O'Donnell, Olton, Pampa, Ropesville, Slaton, Smyer, Tahoka, Whitharral, and Wilson.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for the application or go to  their website at www.ntscom.com/scholarship (opens external link in new window)Deadline: Must be received by March 6, 2020.  If you would like for Mrs. White to mail for you, submit to her by March 2, 2020.

TxDOT Conditional Grant Program… The Conditional Grant Program is available to eligible students pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Students accepted into the program receive up to $3,000 per semester or $6,000 per academic year, based on financial need.  To qualify for the Conditional Grant Program, you must be economically disadvantaged, and you must also: be a Texas resident eligible to work in the U.S., have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00 on a four-point scale, or a minimum score of 900 on the SAT or a minimum score of 21 on the ACT, plan to attend an accredited four-year Texas public college or university as a full-time student (minimum 12 semester hours), declare an intent to seek a four-year degree in civil engineering, and agree to work for TxDOT for two years immediately following graduation. Research Education Scholarship... South Plains College...This academic year, South Plains College will award more than $825,000 in scholarships to new and returning students. You must have applied to SPC before applying. Lyntegar Electric Co-Op... Lyntegar Electric is awarding scholarships to graduating seniors who reside in the home of a Lyntegar Electric Cooperative, Inc. member.  This local scholarship is due MARCH 31.  They are also offering access to the Golden Spread Memorial Scholarship, a $2000 scholarship for entering freshman.  This deadline is MARCH 1. The third scholarship is through the Texas Rural Electric Women's Association, and they will be awarding twenty $1500 scholarships.  That deadline is MARCH 13.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for letter and application. Texas Farm Bureau...  Our district of the Texas Farm Bureau is offering three scholarships of $1000 each, as well as a $1200 scholarships awarded to the top student from the district.  This is awarded based on academic achievement and the completion of a project that promotes agriculture, probably through 4H or FFA, such as judging, stock shows, or speaking contests.  There is also a Young Farmer and Rancher Scholarship valued at $1000 for a student pursuing a career in agriculture.  Must be a member of the Farm Bureau Family.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for the application and guidelines. Poka Lambro Telephone Cooperative... Poka Lambro usually awards about eight local $2500 scholarships, and there are usually only about thirty applicants, so you have a great chance to receive one of these if you apply!

Eligibility Requirements for Poka Lambro:

  1. Academic achievement
  2. Involvement in extra-curricular activities
  3. Educator recommendations (You will need a letter of rec from a teacher, principal, or counselor.)

Eligibility Requirements for Foundation for Rural Service (This scholarship information is from Poka Lambro, but it is a separate scholarship opportunity from the Poka Lambro program):

  1. The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) is offering THIRTY $2,000 scholarships.
  2. If you awarded this scholarship, Poka Lambro will match it with $500, making it a $2500 total scholarship.
  3. Applicants must be members of Poka Lambro.

Texas Telephone Association Foundation…TTA will award six four-year scholarships in the amount of $2000 per year. Students must have a gpa of at least 3.0. Applications are due to Mrs. White by March 21 for submission (due to Spring Break). Do not mail in scholarships yourself. 1. Blue and Gold Guarantee: Provides full tuition and mandatory fees for freshmen coming from Texas families with a combined adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less and an ACT score of 21-24 or an SAT score of 980-1120. This is not a guaranteed program.
2. Carr Academic Scholarship Program: Awards up to $18,000 to high school seniors, depending on SAT, ACT scores and GPA. No application is required other than applying for general financial aid.  Your transcripts and ACT or SAT scores submitted to the Office of Admissions will be used to determine your scholarship eligibility. Once ASU establishes that you are eligible for the Carr Distinguished Scholarship, you will be sent a personal invitation to complete the online Carr Academic Scholarship Application.  Priority Deadline: ?

Generation TX...  This organization is giving FIFTY $1000 scholarships, so everyone should definitely apply.  Fill out the application online at  https://www.southplainsgentx.org/2019-scholarship-application.html (opens external link in new window).   Deadline:  March 19, 2019

KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program… Applicants must be KFC employees and high school seniors who are enrolling in a public college or university within their state of residence and pursuing a bachelor's degree. They must also have a GPA of 2.75 or higher and demonstrate financial need. The award is up to $5,000 per year and renewable for up to four years. To renew the scholarship, recipients must maintain a 2.75 minimum GPA, take a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and during the second year of funding work an average of 10 hours per week. Complete your online application at http://kfcfoundation.org/ (opens external link in new window)Deadline:  March 29, 2018

APRIL DEADLINES

Texas Association of Community Schools (SACS)... O'Donnell ISD is a member of this association, so you all qualify to apply.  You may apply for as many scholarships you meet eligibility for; simply go to the bottom of the page and click on the rules and procedures for each one.  Deadline: April 1, 2019

Capital Farm Credit--Lubbock Office... Capital Farm Credit’s Lubbock Office is presenting two $1000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Click HERE (opens PDF document) for the application. Eligibility Requirements Include:

  1. Must have at least a B average

Texas Rural Education Association (TREA)... O'Donnell ISD is a member of this association, so you all qualify to apply.  They are giving up to twenty-five $1500 awards. Complete the application online at HERE (opens external link in new window).  Deadline: April 1, 2018

Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship…The Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship was established to help needy Texas students attend college. The Slough Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year ($2,500 per Fall and Spring semesters) for a total of 5 years or the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, or a total accumulation of 136 semester hours or 36 credits, whichever comes first. Smaller amounts may be awarded on a one-time basis with no guarantee of future awards. You will need to have completed your FAFSA before applying. Caprock Peace Officers' Association Scholarship... Applicants must be a current member of CPOA or a spouse, dependent of a parent/step-parent or legal guardian, grandchild, or niece/nephew of a member.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for a copy of the application.  Deadline: April 5, 2019
TSMCA Scholarship... The Texas Six Man Coaches Association annually awards 16 scholarships each in the amount of $1,400 to member school All-Stars that compete in the Summer All-Star games.  In 2018, they created two additional annual scholarships in the amount of $2000.  These additional scholarships are the Danny James Texas Six Man Coaches Association scholarships in honor of long time TSMCA member Danny James.  Click HERE (opens Word document) for a copy of the application.  Deadline: April 6, 2020

Brooke Parker Foundation Scholarship... The Brooke Parker Foundation is meant to be a lasting tribute to Brooke who was killed in a head on collision by a wrong way drunk driver on 11/7/2016.  She lived a vibrant life and was a strong influence on those that knew and loved her.  God was a daily part of her life and she lived her days with passion and joy.  Brooke was an over achiever and worked hard at athletics and scholastics and showed determination and grit often surpassing her natural given talents.  She served proudly as athletic trainer at Lubbock Cooper Schools.

This $2500 scholarship is intended to be given to a deserving individual who will go forward in the community, make in difference in the world around them, and ease the financial burden of a college education.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for application.

Applicant Criteria
1. 
Must be a graduating senior in the West Texas or Panhandle area and planning to attend a college or university.
2. Demonstrate a record of good spirit and works
3. Pursuing a degree in athletic training, sports medicine, or a like-minded field.
4. Submit a complete application to the high school counselor by the announced deadline of April 13, 2019.

Lynn County Abstract and Title, Inc...  This is a local scholarship open to all O'Donnell High School seniors. The scholarship recipient will receive a one-time scholarship award in the amount of $500.  Click HERE for a copy of the application.  Deadline:  Turn in to Mrs. White by April 23, 2019.

O'Donnell Volunteer Fire Department..The O’Donnell Volunteer Fire Department is offering four scholarship to O’Donnell seniors, with preference to those who plan to enter a field related to firefighting, EMS/EMT, or medicine.  Click HERE for a copy of the application.  Deadline:  Turn in to Mrs. White by April 23, 2019.

Masonic Lodge #1187 in O'Donnell...This is a local scholarship open to all O'Donnell High School seniors.  Two scholarships will be awarded.  Click HERE (opens Word document) for a copy of the application.  It is a Word document so that you can type directly on it or print and fill it out by hand. Deadline: Must be received by Mr. Follis by April 24, 2019.  If you would like for Mrs. White to mail it for you, turn it in to her by noon on April 24.


Hopkins "Spirit" Scholarship... Mr. Glenn Hopkins devoted thirty-one years of his life to the students of O'Donnell, and this scholarship is awarded by Donna Hopkins to perpetuate the "spirit" Mr. Hopkins inspired and treasured in students who exemplified a dedication to scholarship, loyalty, and pride in both academics and extracurricular activities.  This $1000 Hopkins “Spirit” Scholarship available only to O’Donnell students. Wells Farmer's COOP... This is a local scholarship open to all O'Donnell High School seniors.  Click HERE (opens PDF document)  for a copy of the application.

Robyn Williams Memorial Scholarship... This is a local scholarship open to all O'Donnell High School seniors.  Click HERE (opens PDF document) for a copy of the application.  Deadline:  Turn in to Mrs. White by May 1, 2018.

TILF State UIL Scholarship...
