This is where I will be posting your assignments and videos.  Check back Monday, March 30th for your first assignment.  Study Island and IXL will be used for most assignments for our class, I will be taking at least two grades per week so make sure you are staying up with your work.  Be sure you have added our class code into the remind app. If you have any questions let me know.

Preaching notes from Ms. Sutton:

Guys, you are old enough to follow directions.  You are to look at my webpage periodically; this is where your assignments will be posted.  By this time, you should have joined your class in Remind.  This is where I will be in contact with you or where you will receive group messages. This is a must!  Also, once you start an exercise in IXL, finish it; don’t do 2 minutes and stop and wait 5 days to come back to it.  You must have 2 grades per week, but there is nothing wrong with doing them all at once. It is not that much, and it is easy.  Read the assignments and follow directions.  Grading update: work on a skill until you make a smart score of 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you may stop or you may continue on until you achieve the score you want. I do not want you to stop with 30’s and 40’s. No failing grades!

Assignment #1 March 30th-April 3rd

IXL: A1 Main Idea and B1 What text is most formal? 

Do 25 questions.  If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop.  If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions. 

Assignment #2 April 6th-10th

IXL: B2 and B3 Compare passage for subjective and objective tone and identify audience and purpose. 

Do 25 questions.  If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop.  If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions. 

Assignment #3 April 14th-17th

IXL: B4 Compare passages for tone, C1 Identify the narrative point of view, C2 Interpret the meaning of allusion, and  C3 Identify the source of allusion

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #4 April 20th-24th

IXL: C4 Interpret figures of speech, C5 Classify figures of speech euphemism, hyperbole, oxymoron, paradox, and C6 Classify figures of speech: review

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #5 April 27th-May 1st

IXL: D1 Match the quotations with their theme, D2 Analyze short stories: set 1, and D3 Analyze short stories: set 2

Assignment #6 May 4th-May 8th

IXL: E2 Information passages, H1 Distinguish facts from opinions, K2 Avoid double comparisons, and K3 Sentences with parallel structure

Assignment #7 May 11th- 15th: 

IXL K5 Remove redundant words, M3 and M6 correcting errors, and S1 choosing words
