This is where I will be posting your assignments and videos.  Check back Monday, March 30th for your first assignment.  Study Island and IXL will be used for most assignments for our class. We will also be reading short stories. I will be taking at least two grades per week so make sure you are staying up with your work.  Be sure you have added our class code into the remind app. If you have any questions, let me know.

Assignment #1 March 30th-April 3rd:

IXL: A1 Determine the main idea and B1 What text is most formal? 

Do 25 questions.  If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop.  If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions. 

Assignment #2 April 6th- 10th:

IXL: B2 Compare passages for subject and objective passages and B3 identify audience and purpose.

Do 25 questions. If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop. If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions.

Guys, you are old enough to follow directions.  You are to look at my webpage periodically; this is where your assignments will be posted.  By this time, you should have joined your class in Remind.  This is where I will be in contact with you or where you will receive group messages. This is a must!  Also, once you start an exercise in IXL, finish it; don’t do 2 minutes and stop and wait 5 days to come back to it.  You must have 2 grades per week, but there is nothing wrong with doing them all at once. It is not that much, and it is easy.  Read the assignments and follow directions.  Grading update: work on a skill until you make a smart score of 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you may stop or you may continue on until you achieve the score you want. I do not want you to stop with 30’s and 40’s. No failing grades!

Assignment #3 April 14th-17th:

IXL: B4 Compare passages for tone,  C1 Identify the narrative point of view,  C2 Interpret the meaning of an allusion from its source and  C3 Recall the source of an allusion

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #4 April 20th-24th:

IXL: C4 Interpret the figure of speech,  C5 Classify the figure of speech: euphemism, hyperbole, oxymoron, paradox, C6 Classify the figure of speech: anaphora, antithesis, apostrophe, assonance, chiasmus, understatement, and C7 Classify the figure of speech: review

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #5 April 27th-May 1st:

IXL C8 Analyze the effects of figures of speech on meaning and tone, D1 Analyze short stories: set 1, D2 Analyze short stores: set 2, and  D3 Identify elements of poetry 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #5 May 4th-May 8th:

IXL: E1 Informational passages set 1, E2 informational passages set 2, G1 topic sentence and J2 avoid doubles 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #6 May 11th- 15th:

IXL: J3 identify sentences, J4 parallel structure, J5 remove redundant words, and Q2 choose words. 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.
