This is where I will be posting your assignments and videos.  Check back Monday, March 30th for your first assignment.  Study Island and IXL will be used for most assignments for our class, I will be taking at least two grades per week so make sure you are staying up with your work.  Be sure you have added our class code into the remind app. If you have any questions let me know.

Preaching notes from Ms. Sutton:

Guys, you are old enough to follow directions.  You are to look at my webpage periodically; this is where your assignments will be posted.  By this time, you should have joined your class in Remind.  This is where I will be in contact with you or where you will receive group messages. This is a must!  Also, once you start an exercise in IXL, finish it; don’t do 2 minutes and stop and wait 5 days to come back to it.  You must have 2 grades per week, but there is nothing wrong with doing them all at once. It is not that much, and it is easy.  Read the assignments and follow directions.  Grading update: work on a skill until you make a smart score of 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you may stop or you may continue on until you achieve the score you want. I do not want you to stop with 30’s and 40’s. No failing grades!

Assignment #1 March 30th-April 3rd:

IXL: A1 Determine the main idea

Do 25 questions.  If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop.  If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions. 

Assignment #2 April 6th-10th 

IXL: B1 and B2 Theme

Do 25 questions.  If you make a 70 or above smart score you may stop.  If it is below a 70, do 5 more questions. 

Assignment #3 April 14th-17th:

IXL: Purpose and Tone C1 Identify author's purpose, C2 What sentence is more formal and  C3 Compare passage for tone

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #4 April 20th-24th: 

IXL: Text Structure, D1 Compare and Contrast, D2 Match causes and effects in informational texts, and D3 Match problems with their solutions 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #5 April 27th-May 1st:

IXL: Literary Devices  E1 Identify sensory details,  E2 Identify the narrative point of view, and  E3 Interpret the meaning of allusions 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #6 May 4th- 8th:

IXL: E4 Source of allusions, E5 Figures of Speech, E6 Figures of Speech, and E7 Analyze figures of speech on meaning and tone.  

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.  

Assignment #7 May 11th-15th:

IXL F1 Analyze short stories, F2 Vocabulary review, G1 Informational passages, and G2 Vocabulary Review 

Do as many questions until you make a smart score of a 70 or above.  Once you obtain a smart score of 70 or above you many stop or you may continue on until you achieve that score you want.
