Texas Transition and Employment Guide

The Texas Transition and Employment Guide provides youth, young adults, parents and professionals with secondary transition resources to facilitate a young person's progress towards post-secondary goals to education, employment, and community living.  The Transition Guide is for the student in a Texas public school, who may have received special education services due to a disability.  It also provides helpful information for parents.  The guide has steps to take to make sure you are able to find the right work or educational choices for you after high school.  It is divided into sections on:

Self-Advocacy, Transition Services, Employment and Supported Employment, Social Security Programs, Community and Long Term Services and Supports, Postsecondary Educational Programs and Services, Information Sharing, and Guardianship and Alternatives.  Each section has phone numbers, emails, and websites to help find what you need.  At the end of each section and at the end of the guide, you will find a timeline of steps that students and parents can take as they make the transition from student to adult.
